Seven days after he joined Fairchild, Andy Grove got a surprise. On his first Friday he had handed in a report. The following Monday, he received a note saying: “I just read your report on MOS capacitors – very nice work.” It was signed ‘Bob’. “I thought I’d died and gone to heaven,” said Grove.
