Sony and IBM break mag tape record

Sony and IBM are claiming a record magnetic tape data storage record, at 201Gb/in2, ~20x greater than IBM’s latest enterprise tape drive. “The resulting technology can support approximately 330TB per data cartridge, whereas conventional technology can only handle 15TB per data cartridge”, said Sony (see footnote).
